Honestly, I think there’s actually something a little… Well unhealthy about the people saying “Its still bait cos it took a long time to tell.”
What I mean is, these aren’t people who just don’t vibe with or prefer another ship, they aren’t people who just dislike the show or company.
These seem to be people who have some kind of deep, ideological hatred for BB. One they spent no small amount of time building into a cornerstone of their identity around as this ‘ultimate enemy queerbait’.
Thus, when it became canon and was revealed to have always been the plan something in them, be it sheer stubbornness, pride or what have you refused to compute with reality.
It wasn’t supposed to become canon, they weren’t supposed to be wrong, so they ‘can’t’ be wrong, it somehow has to be the fandom, the show, the world that’s wrong!
Thus they’ll go around making legitimately unhinged claims like “It doesn’t count as WLW because it took time.” or, “Some of the writers are cis white men (One, one is a cis white man, of four) so its invalid” or start pulling out gold star lesbian bullshit because Blake had relationships with men in the past.
All while stanning other shows and couples written by cis white men, or that had had women date men, or could be argued to have had less time spent on developing said paring. Because they can’t accept they were wrong.
all cops are bastards because all cops are just doing their jobs
“I’m just doing what I’m told. If I am ordered to remove gold fillings from refugees theeth then that’s what I’ll do”, says police officer Michael Hansen.
Just thought I’d add this since not a lot of people outside of the nordic countries seem to have seen it. This is a danish police officer discussing a new danish law that says the police should seize the possesions and money of refugees to finance the integration.
He uh, skipped awful quickly to “stealing gold fillings” didn’t he?
Whenever men loudly go to bat for sex-positive feminism a la free the nipple, I’m like, do you want kudos for … endorsing women being publicly naked and having sex with men without expecting commitment? Should we throw a party? Should we invite Bella Hadid?
I’m not sex negative in my personal life and the sexual revolution was a net good, but men supporting the kind of feminism that directly and materially benefits them isn’t groundbreaking. It’s like when white people support Tim Scott when he says America isn’t racist, you know?
“When people talk about gender-affirming surgery using words like “mutilation,” that’s not very nice. Is that how you think about people who’ve had surgery for other things? It’s a disgust reaction, and I do not take disgust into account as a legitimate point of discourse. I don’t have to entertain it and I’m not going to. It’s a waste of everybody’s time, it’s knee-jerk, it’s not grounded in reality, and it’s not useful. And it’s a squeamishness about medical intervention. I think the idea of making legislative or cultural decisions in and around [that] is laughable. Your squeamishness is not what the world turns on; it doesn’t matter.”

Elon failed to pay his bill with Amazon, got rate-limited, and is using the “you can only see so many posts per day” excuse as a way to cover for it, AND he implemented the “you can only see so many posts per day” in a half-assed way that is essentially causing Twitter to DDOS itself?
And yet the Reddit CEO thinks that this is the man to emulate?
(There’s also an OceanGate parallel here, where you have a billionaire who thinks that they’re innovating… and what they build implodes, explodes, or otherwise is junk)
something something you won’t avoid being sent to the death camp just because you coddle your oppressors instead of siding with other oppressed people something something you’re not and never will be the exception something something first they came for the communists something something history repeats itself
The maga-packed US Supreme Court decided this week
* to protect bigotry under the guise of religious beliefs
* ended Affirmative Action
* struck down Biden’s plan to extend studen loan forgiveness
This is codified bigotry. If your beliefs require you to be a bigot, it’s time to question your beliefs. Bigotry being legally protected is pushing the US back to the Jim Crow era. The decisions regarding Affirmative Action and student loan forgiveness is part of the deliberate, systemized goal of maintaining oppression perpetrated by powerful, rich white people. Making it even more difficult for anyone but privileged, powerful white people to get an education and opportunities, to be able to afford college. It’s an attempt to keep the deck stacked against everyone but themselves. It’s anti-egalitarian. The far right goes to war daily against LGBTQ people, against PoC, against women. In supreme court decisions, in the vile bigoted laws they try to enact locally. In their public statements. In their tweets
Seeing the first amendment being waved around as an excuse to allow protected bigotry makes me sick to my stomach.
Call it what it is. FASCISM. BIGOTRY. DISCRIMINATION. CLASS WAR.
Please vote. It matters who is in office, on the national and local level.
What part of the Supreme Court blocking and striking down every single move on student debt makes people still think Biden can cancel the debt with One Weird Trick that he hasn’t tried yet?
Like in this exact example! Using authority under any Act of Congress is subject to judicial review and puts us right back at Packed Courts. There is a system of checks and balances in this country and there’s never going to be a unilateral decision on this scale that can be made by just one man, idgaf what some leftie Podcaster who hasn’t studied US civics since high school says!!!
I think the federalizing of desired outcomes really started with the Tea Party congressional flip in 2010, where legislative expectation was neutralized and continued for the remainder of Obama’s presidency, and so a lot of progressives and leftists got used to policy by executive order and policy by judicial decision and figured it could continue, which warped expectations as to what could be done by the President, and which helped encourage a disinterest in state and local action and involvement, and it only metastasized under Trump because Trump seemed to be able to have so much power and authority (partly because he had a Congress where the majority agreed with him for part of his Presidency, partly because he was able to undo a lot of shit by executive order because said shit was established or expanded by executive order which is why you DON’T WANT GOVERNMENT BY EXECUTIVE ORDER, and partly because Republicans are fundamentally a destructive entity and it’s easier to destroy rather than create or establish) and which led to a weird idea that this is the new normal.
